Soy-Free Feed Gives Our Clients Options.

At Sunrise Farms, we’re committed to providing our clients wholesome feed to promote healthy growth in their animals. Soy-free feed is an option we offer to consumers concerned about the levels of soy in the products they consume. Allergies to soy are rising and certain scientific studies have indicated eating products containing soy stimulates the growth of some cancer cells. Learning about feed and the differences between soy-free and regular Non-GMO feed empowers you to make the best decision for your family and business.

Getting Down To The Basics.

The soy debate began with a study published in the 1946 copy of the Australian Veterinary Journal. Sheep consuming all-natural soy clover experienced fertility issues due to the high levels of naturally occurring isoflavones, or estrogen. While more studies were conducted, the benefits of soy in promoting growth in livestock took precedence over reported health concerns. Here are some benefits of soy-free feed:

  • Anti-Nutrients: Soy contains naturally occurring “anti-nutrients” like: soyatoxin, phytates, protease inhibitors, oxalates, goitrogens and estrogens, that can negatively interact with the enzymes necessary to digest protein. While heat treatment (roasting) eliminates the effects of these anti-nutrients, many feel that these naturally occurring elements are made more dangerous by the abundance of soy in both human and animal diets.
  • Allergies: Some people just don’t process soy as well as others. Soy allergies rank high for children and some people believe that soy livestock feed creates a chain reaction down the food chain.
