Purchase Broiler Chicks from Sunrise Farms.
We raise Cornish Cross chicks for our broiler chickens and have sourced them from Myers Poultry for years. We are working with them to make chicks more available in this area. While many farms have chicks shipped via USPS, mortality is often high due to lack of climate control and extended shipping times.
We bring the chicks straight from the hatchery minimizing stress and therefore allowing the chicks a more productive start. See our blog to explore this further.

Cornish Cross chickens are ideal for growers focused on productivity. Our strain in particular has been selectively bred to hold their weight. Their rapid growth and high meat yields make them a top pick for anyone raising broilers in large or commercial settings.
For added versatility, these birds can be processed at different times to achieve specific market needs. Cornish Cross can be processed at 4 weeks for Cornish hens, or kept until 6 to 8 weeks for traditional broilers.
Cornish Cross chickens have a clean, white feathering that makes them easy to pluck during processing. Their conformation is stocky and broad, with large breasts that offer maximum white meat yield.
AquaStart
Consider purchasing AquaStart, a water gel bead and feed attractant product that provides hydration and encourages feed discovery for newly placed poultry. AquaStart may be picked up at our feed store.
What is the Process?
- Fill out the order form.
- Call to confirm your order, finalize the quantity, and prepay.
- We call you, closer to the pickup date, to finalize pickup time.
- Pickup at Sunrise Farms in Stuarts Draft, Virginia (We do not ship).
Note
- If possible, give 6 weeks advance notice for orders of over 100.
- Chicks arrive in boxes for transport.
- Chicks are straight run (mix of male and female).
- Additional charges apply if you are not able to make the pickup date.
